Welcome to my website Chicken Run Creations!
Who am I? Good question! My name is Dawn and I have been married for 34 years, mom to 5 adult children and grandma to 4 adorable grandchildren.
I have always been an entrepreneur at heart, from my teen age days of babysitting, to selling Avon, painting to sell on eBay, selling books, toys and games on Amazon and even graphic design. Now that my children are grown, I find that entrepreneur bug biting again, and while I could go out and get a “job”, I like my freedom to work at home, be available for my kids and grandchildren, and spend time with hubby when he is off.
Back in February 2020, right at the beginning of the pandemic, I found myself a new craft, Needle Felting. I had seen it done at a craft show a few years before that and I was very intrigued but wasn’t sure about going about starting, and never really pursued it. Then one day while on a crafting page on Facebook, I came across someone who posted something she had made and told how she purchased a starter kit off Amazon. Off I went to find that kit, I watched many YouTube videos and my new hobby was born.
I started posting the items I made on my Facebook page and suddenly found myself with people asking if I could make them something, and a little business was born. I tried selling a few things on eBay and did okay but that platform isn’t what it used to be back in the days when I was painting so I’ve been toying with starting a website to put my items up on, and doing some blogging as well. So here we are!
Besides crafting I love my little one acre homestead. I raise chickens for both eggs and meat, pigs, and have a 4000+ sq ft garden that keeps my hands forever dirty and me sane. Dirt therapy is the way to go I tell you! I have also started to dabble a little in making videos for both my homestead and needle felting.
My goal is to not just offer needle felted items, but get back into doing some graphic design and offer apparel and home goods. I also currently sell books/journals on Amazon that I’m hoping to offer more items on my website (I found I can do spiral bound books this way which is wonderful for journals).
I look forward to sharing new products and happenings around the homestead. Please subscribe to my email list so you can be updated when new blog posts are up or new items are added to the store. Thank you for stopping by!
Dawn
